Guiros
Gurios are a traditional Puerto Rican instrument with ridges along its body that is played with a scraper to create a bright, percussive sound, making it a great addition for the percussion section in your music department.
We supply guiros with fun designs for younger students such as the wooden frog guiro and guinea pig gourd guiro and shaker, or we have some with beautiful hand painted decorations such as the hollow gourd guiro and scraper and gourd guiro and shaker.
Instruments for students to shake
Stimulating instruments that allow for sensory play are vital for any educational environment, as they get students engaged and having fun in classroom activities.
We have a choice of shakers such as the seed pod shaker (made from an actual large bean pod) which can be shaken or slapped for a percussive sound, and the caxixi shaker which has a handle for easy holding and is filled with bells for a bright, jingle tone when shaken. The seed shaker is made from dried seeds grouped together in clusters, with a hand-woven band and wrist sling for an instrument that is fun to play for students of all ages.
We also supply a gourd maracas pair which have hand painted, unique patterns and a soft sound when shaken.
Instruments perfect for sensory play
With a gentle, rain-like sound, the painted rainstick is made with polished bamboo and is a fun but also relaxing instrument that students can experiment with. It is available in 30cm, 40cm and 50cm sizes, so both younger and older students can find the right size for them.
