Every instrument is made in the workshop of Guofang Wang, a highly respected luthier based in Beijing. His team of expert craftsmen carve the panels by hand from carefully selected European tonewoods to ensure the best possible tone. They use solid European spruce for the table, European maple for the back and sides, and smooth ebony for the fingerboard. The wood is seasoned for strength before being manipulated and finished with an oil-based lacquer which improves resonance and gives it an attractive antique sheen. Supplied as instrument only, the MMX brand offers a range of double bass bows in French and German styles.
