Introducing the Kawai GL-10 Baby Grand Piano

The Kawai GL-10 is the smallest model in Kawai's grand piano lineup, delivering superb value for money while benefiting from the same high build and component quality Kawai pianos are known for.

While only 5'1" in length, the class leading GL-10 features a solid tapered spruce soundboard and benefits from the same carbon fibre infused ABS action components as the larger and more expensive models in the range. These features, coupled with underfelted mahogany hammers make it unbeatable at its price point. Incredibly responsive with superb control and long lasting accuracy, the GL-10 also benefits from a music desk which is adjustable for both reach and angle, along with an elegant soft-closing fallboard.

Millennium III Action

The ground-breaking Millennium III Action utilises components made of ABS-Carbon—a composite material infused with carbon fibre. ABS-Carbon is incredibly strong and rigid, meaning that GL Series action parts can be made lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a stronger, faster action that offers more power, better control and greater stability than conventional all-wood actions.

Tapered, solid spruce soundboard

The purpose of the soundboard is to transform the vibrations of the piano’s strings into a rich, resounding tone. Kawai uses only straight-grained, quarter-sawn solid spruce for GL Series soundboards. Each one is strategically tapered to provide the optimum degree of resonant movement in each region. Only soundboards that meet or exceed our demanding resonance standards are selected for use in the GL Series grand pianos.

Soft-closing fallboard

While the entry-level model in the grand piano range, the Kawai GL-10 also benefits from a soft-closing lid or fallboard. A luxurious feature previously only high end instruments and means no more trapped fingers!

Stretcher Overlap Integrated Design (SOLID)

SOLID construction creates an exceptionally rigid foundation to support string tension. First, the pinblock is fitted to the plate. Then, the pinblock and over-lapping stretcher bar are integrated into a single structure and solidly anchored to the rim. The extraordinary thickness of the stretcher bar highlights the structural integrity of this framework designed to ensure stable tuning and powerful tone.
