Introducing the Percussion Plus Honestly Made Damru monkey drum
This simple but effective drum from India is made from mango wood and produces a resonant percussive tone. The damru drum would have originally been used by street vendors to attract customers to their stalls.
The drum features a brightly coloured, striped exterior with rope tuning and rope arms with a singular bead attached that strike the drum skin when shaken. Damru (sometimes spelt Damaru) also have a religious connection in Hinduism and Shiva is often seen holding one in dancing form.
