Introducing the Percussion Play sunflower petal drum

This vibrant and charming drum is designed to look like a blooming sunflower, creating a cheerful atmosphere in any school playground, sensory garden, care home, or outdoor musical space. This floral instrument offers superior acoustic qualities and can accommodate players of all ages and abilities. Soft, flexible mallets are provided with the drum, making it easier to produce gentle and soothing music.

Each sunflower contains a small (10”/250mm) babel drum encased within specific shaped aluminium ‘petals’. Sunflowers radiate joy, and with the bright yellow colour and a central black drum, this eye-catching instrument will add sunshine to your outdoor or indoor space all year long.

Get everyone involved

This inclusive play equipment looks and sounds gorgeous either on its own or with a combination of other instruments, and it provides multi-generational fun. These petal drums support SEND learning by helping to improve hand-eye coordination, listening skills, and motor skills in an interactive and engaging way. The stand is also at a height that makes it accessible for young children and those who use a wheelchair, which is great for elderly or disabled musicians who want to continue experiencing the joy of creating music.

Built for outdoor use

The Percussion Play sunflower petal drum is built from durable, weather-proof materials that perform well in even the most challenging outdoor environments. The flower heads are securely mounted to a stainless-steel frame, or come ready to be wall-mounted.

Pygmy scale tuning

Originating in African culture, the Pygmy scale is a form of Dorian mode (a mode being halfway between a minor and a major scale). Gentle and sweet, its sound inspires introspection and meditation.

Tuning = C Pygmy (C-D-Eb-G-Bb-C)

Surface mounted vs Ground install

There are two ways to install this Percussion Play product:

Surface mounted

The leg is attached to a base plate, which is then fixed into the ground using anchors. This provides a brilliant level of stability, whilst making it possible to move the product around with relative ease.

Ground install

The leg is directly embedded into the ground, providing excellent, long-lasting stability. However, once placed, the instrument will be very hard to move - perfect for permanent installations.
