Introducing the Yamaha GB1K Baby Grand Piano c.2010

Supplied new by Chamberlain Music in 2010 to its sole owner, this piano has seen little use in recent years and comes back to us in excellent overall condition. A remarkably refined and resonant instrument and worth comparing against the new Kawai GL-10, this piano is a great value way of obtaining your very own Yamaha baby grand piano.

Although the smallest model in Yamaha's grand piano range at just 5'0" (150cm) in length, the Yamaha GB1 offers superb depth of tone, clarity and projection. Its compact dimensions and elegant styling make it an ideal choice for the home or small performance space, while the unmatched responsiveness of a grand piano action means it is also worth considering over a medium to large upright.

While the piano is now 14 years old the design of the GB1K hasn't really changed, it is based on the coveted Yamaha C Series with its impressive specification including a solid spruce soundboard, a soft-closing fall board and sostenuto pedal.

Superb design and workmanship

Yamaha have invested more than 100 years of accumulated knowledge into the design and development of the GB1K grand piano combining art, craftsmanship and technology. For example, Yamaha designs and makes its own frames, relying on a method of casting referred to as “vacuum process”, the world’s first such technique developed over many years in creating a number of top piano frames.

Trustworthy Yamaha techniques

Yamaha truly have an enormous knowledgebase when it comes to both piano design and manufacturing, understanding, for example, how controlling the temperature and composition of casting, and even the coating used on the frame itself, affects the acoustic characteristics of the piano. This is a major reason that Yamaha is able to ensure reliable quality when crafting pianos like the GB1K.

High quality components for reliability

The Yamaha GB1K grand piano offers unbeatable value yet is constructed from high quality components including a solid soundboard crafted from Alaskan spruce. Based on the coveted C Series grands, no corners have been cut and nothing has been compromised. The tuning stability, finish and overall musical integrity of the instrument are enhanced in a way befitting of the long life expected of a fine piano. This high level of quality control also means exceedingly low maintenance costs, which is especially important for an investment like this.

Soft-closing fallboard prevents damage

Despite being the entry-level model in the grand piano range, the Yamaha GB1K also benefits from a soft-closing lid or fallboard. This is a luxurious feature previously only found on high end instruments; the fallboard is fitted with a soft-landing mechanism, freeing you from the worry of it shutting too firmly and causing damage, or closing it on yourself unexpectedly... no more trapped fingers!

A truly modern production facility

With fantastic build and component quality, the GB1K is made in Yamaha's Indonesian piano factory which is among the most modern and advanced in the world. Owned and operated by Yamaha, the result is high quality control from start to finish!
